Given the typology on the Borongaj Campus of either a “tower” or “lamella”, the morphology of the building becomes a hybrid. This transformation gently models the landscape, making the massiveness of the building appear to float. This notion is connected to the garden as well as the rest of the green spaces on and in the building. The stretched-out parts house the public spaces as well as the laboratories, while the tower houses the administrative areas. Everything is connected with a high atrium, which also participates in the energy performance of the building.
The articulated terrazzo façade panels give shading and combine with wood lamellas that hide the doors for natural ventilation for each single office. The surroundings of the building communicate with the campus through a science-driven park where environmental and climate phenomena can be studies and observed. |
