The Brewery grows from existing buildings that can no longer keep up with time, and require an intervention. This means that they are no longer of economic, environmental, and architectural interest any more, and could serve the city in better ways. However, instead of destroying them, The Brewery uses entirely or partly the existing structure, and elements for its further development. The new structure does not only stay in the boundaries of the building it is using, but develops throughout the entire city. It freely grows in all directions, covering, undermining or simply penetrating existing buildings to make path for a new thinking and utopia, connecting, unifying and re-visiting the existing architectural layers and differences of the city. Interweaving with the existing city fabric, it is an architecture that will lead the change and breathe in new life and possibilities to the stuffy First district. It is driven through collaboration, tolerance and mutual dialog of its inhabitants and others occupants. Also,
The Brewery is fully aware of the dependence to a specific epoch, meaning it will never hinder or disable future generations to participate in the process of development and change.
It is constructed in an interdepending way that results in an equal win – win situation. Just like every other skyscraper or mega structure, the Brewery houses a broad range of realities. Only, in this case, the realities are the sum of entire Vienna, provoking and challenging people, processes, and views to meet and intersect, forming a completely new reality driven by a new architecture.
